The performative work of Luigi Presicce (born in Porto Cesareo, Lecce, 1976. Lives and works in Florence) tends towards the recreation of a metaphysical and unreal atmosphere that is, at the same time, a strong visual impact, that pushes beyond the merely theatrical. His tableaux vivants exude references derived from the iconography of art history, in particular medieval and Renaissance, reclaiming the intimacy and the miniaturist style of devotional paintings. Combining ritual and popular culture, liturgy and Freemasonry, Presicce reestablishes enigmatic and suspenseful micro histories that generate situations, surreal and atemporal epiphanies, rendering the viewer the protagonist and witness of apparently indecipherable rites, aimed at recontextualising the artist’s act within a kind of contemplation once reserved for religious experience.
The performance Trittico della giovinezza angelica, produced by the Associazione Culturale Dello Scompiglio, reconstructs three studies on adolescence, the time of life in which man and woman are not yet defined, neither in form, nor in purpose.
