Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz have been working together since 2007. They live in Berlin. Mr. Backlash, an Associazione Culturale Dello Scompiglio production, experiments with a format between performance, live music, and installation/exhibition. Objects – a drone, a vacuum cleaner, a stage, an electric guitar – will enjoy some agency during the evening. Moreover, to complete the team of performers, the duo collaborates with the musician and performer Aérea Negrot – well-known for her album Arabxilla (BPitch Control) and her collaborations with the band Hercules and Love Affair as well the Berlin theatre project Gritty Glamour. Negrot will perform songs which are closely related to the topics of Mr. Backlash: resisting war and the employment of drones, subverting the relation between friend and enemy, and transgressing the ways in which gender and sexuality are deployed in the service of the military. The performance will dwell in a time and place of post-identity while at the same time juggling the violent burden of not only one but multiple defiant identities from different times and places.
