We present the first study of a poetic experience of a crossing, balancing between a rite of passage and a journey of exploration. An invitation to enter into the commemorative and archetypal dimension of death, to leave and then go on to embrace that which we do not know.
When a person dies, what do they leave behind?

James Hillman in The Force of Character writes: “I propose that we give up the simplistic opposition between body and soul, and instead imagine a unique character encapsulated in images”.
When someone leaves us, their image affects us like a bodily force and they whisper in our ear and pass through our dreams. The person is dead, yet they remain as a force of character.
These images are not simply memories, rather, they show surprising autonomy. They come uninvited, and often force us to remain illogically attached to objects that clutter drawers and cupboards, because these objects act on us like vestiges of that character.
