Mammatrigna is an animated “catalogue of mothers” contending with an equally animated “catalogue of boys and girls”, a light-hearted portrait gallery, affectionate and biting, ironic and melancholic, where each child will recognise a part of themselves and a part of their own mother. From honey-sweet mum, cuddly and clingy, to the “You’ll-get-the-back-of-my-hand” mum, quick-tempered and overbearing; from “Can’t-you-do-anything-right?” mum, critical and judgemental, to “Well-done!” mum, always ready to encourage and reassure.
And other mothers, super-organized and super-efficient moms that move like robots or mums who are always tired or always in a hurry so don’t have time to play. And what about stepmothers? This show isn’t going to pass up the opportunity of a foray into the world of fairy tales in order to contrast the famous characters, that are cruel and jealous, with the modern stepmother figure, affectionate and friendly, and rechristened extra-mum.
