On Monday 12 September 2011 oenologist Claudio Gori, together with Cecilia Bertoni, Francesco Del Rosso and Francesco Landucci officially launched the wine "Lavandaia Madre 2009", the first of the three wines which will be produced in the old vineyards of the Tenuta dello Scompiglio.

The wine Lavandaia Madre 2009 originates in the Vigna Madre (Mother Vineyard), which was the first Vineyard to be salvaged from beneath a thick blanket of brambles, and which first bore fruit in 2006.
The same year also saw the start of an in-depth study of the vineyard and the grape varieties present within it through vine-type surveys and micro vinification tests, which produced the first results in 2009, the same year of the first true vintage.
Through a careful selection of grapes, we have succeeded in collecting excellent raw material, which has been processed in the winery, maintaining as well as enhancing the organoleptic characteristics through the technique of Pre-fermentation Cold Maceration.

Since 2009 the wine has been aged, first in French oak barriques, then in bottles for the final period, and on 12 September it was ready to be presented to the general public.

For the optimum tasting of the Lavandaia Madre 2009, the staff of the Osteria Cucina Dello Scompiglio organised a buffet dinner using produce from the Tenuta in a menu specially prepared for the occasion.
