Nessun Dorma is an opera for children, an adaption in three acts of Turandot by Giacomo Puccini, the last, unfinished, masterpiece of Italian musical drama. A tale of love and death told by Kinkaleri with shadow puppets and drawings, riddles and disguises, in an enchanting artifice of music, singing, acting
and scenery.
The show is structured around an actor-dancer who draws and brings to life the characters of the tale and an opera singer who plays the icy princess Turandot, immersed in scenery made entirely out of white paper: a little opera that, though tiny, does not sacrifice opulence or splendour.
Nessun Dorma is an engaging and magical story of music, words, drawings and silence; an opera for children, but also for anyone who, regardless of age, experiences with affection disenchantment the scene.
Because, fundamentally Turandot is a game, albeit cruel.
