Tenuta dello Scompiglio
21 June 2014
from 3.30 PM

Festival of European Music

From early afternoon the young students from the local music schools will play pieces by Mozart in different areas of the Tenuta Dello Scompiglio. Each group will create and occupy a sort of “salon”, a room in the natural surroundings of the historic Park. The musicians will play, chat, drink and eat at various times throughout the afternoon. The audience will be able to move about freely and move closer to hear a particular group of their choice. The different ensembles will sometimes play at the same time, overlapping, without any one becoming dominant. The actress Marialucia Carones will move amongst these salons reading extracts from Mozart’s letters. The idea of the “salons” evokes the contrast in the life and the music of Mozart between the worldly and playful and the spiritual aspects. Two of the performances have been created especially for the occasion. Nannerl, sorella di Mozart (Nannerl, Mozart’s Sister), by and with musicians Carl G. Beukman and Antonio Caggiano and the performer Cecilia Bertoni, create a game of steps between the notes of the musical scale, between an brother and a sister, between the feminine and the masculine. La casa dei flauti (The House of Flutes) by Tanya Khabarova is inspired by The Magic Flute and explores the world of birds. At the end of the afternoon, the audience and all the artists converge at the centre of the Park for a final performance by Stefano Giannotti.

For children there will be a workshop during the course of the afternoon led by musician Marco Fagioli.
